Kalamazoo, MI -  Today, Mayor David Anderson announced his candidacy for re-election for Mayor of Kalamazoo. Anderson previously served on the city commission from 2005 until being elected mayor in 2019.

“The past year has been difficult for everyone in Kalamazoo, our state, our country and across the globe,” Anderson said. “Through these challenging times, my love for our community has grown deeper.”

“When I ran for mayor two years ago, we said we would do the work to build a Kalamazoo that leaves no one behind. My first term was not what any of us expected, but our community has remained firmly committed to its values,” Anderson continues. “We must continue the important work we’ve done on economic development, affordable housing, public safety and climate change.”

“I am running for re-election to be the mayor of Kalamazoo to continue the work we started and engage with the next generation of leaders,” Anderson stated.

Born and raised in the Kalamazoo area, David Anderson held leadership positions with neighborhood, civic and public school parent-teacher associations before his first election to the Kalamazoo City Commission in 2005 and election to Mayor in 2019.  Anderson lives in the Stuart Neighborhood with his wife, Cori Terry.
