Kalamazoo Mayor David Anderson Announces Re-Election Campaign

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 15, 2023

Kalamazoo, MI -  Today, Mayor David Anderson announced his candidacy for re-election for Mayor of Kalamazoo.

“While we have made progress while facing significant challenges in the past four years, among them the Covid-19 pandemic, we must continue to work together to address ongoing issues,” said Anderson.

“We’ve been focused on economic development, affordable housing, public safety and climate change,” Anderson said, “all of which are greatly important to the City. Our new commission has worked together to address these complex issues, and there’s more work to be done. That’s why I’m running for Mayor.”

Anderson was first elected to the City Commission in 2005 until being elected mayor in 2019 and 2021.

“I am running for re-election to be the mayor of Kalamazoo to ensure that everyone, no matter what neighborhood they reside in, is safe, has a place to call home and has access to the wonderful opportunities our community has to offer,” Anderson stated. “Let’s keep building Kalamazoo together.”

Born and raised in the Kalamazoo area, David has previously held leadership positions with neighborhood, civic and public school parent-teacher associations before his first election to the Kalamazoo City Commission in 2005 and election to Mayor in 2019.  Anderson lives in the Stuart Neighborhood with his wife, Cori Terry.
